His autobiography is entitled "The Strongman", published by Bonomo Studios around 1968. Joe Bonomo had an interesting life, he was one of the world's strongest men at one time and was a hollywood stuntman and actor in the silent action serials of the 1920's & 30's. Born in 1901 and died in 1978. Interesting reading if you can find it.
His parents owned a candy factory in coney island and apparently made such good turkish taffy (thru the 50's I gather) that I actually found some inquiries on the internet of people trying to find out if it was still made and where to get it. Victor Bonomo, who created the candy, died in 1999 at the age of 100. His obituary copied from The New York Times tells more about the Bonomos and Turkish Taffy.
